The Rise of TikTok’s Hottest Beauty Influencer Alix Earle
Long gone are the days of YouTube Get Ready With Me’s (GRWM) or Instagram livestreams of your favorite makeup products. Social media’s “GRWM” concept has been around for years as we now reminisce on our Bethany Mota and Olivia Jade eras. These YouTube sensations built their personal brands around the GRWMs or luxury hauls posted online. These videos are still around today, just in a different format on a much bigger platform. Now, we get all of our inspiration, ideas and influence from TikTok. One of the biggest stars right now is Alix Earle. Be honest — we know she comes up on your FYP often.
Let’s get to know a bit more about Alix. She is a 22-year-old New Jersey native who is a senior at the University of Miami. Her first TikTok was posted in February of 2020. Just three years later, Alix now has 4.6 million followers and over 204 million likes. Her TikTok page consists of makeup tutorials, acne updates, Amazon finds, days in the life, frat pool party vlogs and drunk chaos with her friends. We have to remember that she is a college student after all. She’s even attended events with our favorite A-listers. Some include casually posing with Hailey Bieber, making a GRWM with Selena Gomez at a Rare Beauty event and being invited to Miley Cyrus’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami. She is one of the fastest-growing creators on TikTok. The real question we’ve been wondering is: why is Alix so popular?
She’s real. With each video Alix posts, she is warm and relatable, showing us all aspects of her life. Whether it be about lip filler, an ex, acne or being hungover from the night before, she is 100 percent candid, and it’s refreshing to hear. Alix is also warm and welcoming, which is definitely reminiscent of the YouTube tutorials and videos back in the day. That being said, Alix is most popular for her recommendations, opinions and additions of makeup and skincare. When she shares it, it’s a hot commodity.
