Spring Break Do's And Don'ts
The spring break countdown has officially begun, and we could not be more excited to give you some do’s and don’t’s for the vacation we’ve all been craving. Coming from someone who has already gone through all of their Christmas spending, we want you to have the best spring break possible while being on a budget. This can be achieved; we are here to tell you how to have the best break and relieve some stress during these 10 days.
Let's start out with location. This is probably the most important part and if you wanna go the classic route — as in Fort Lauderdale, Florida — then we have some tips for you. Luckily enough, Elon is driving distance from Florida; in only 11 short hours, you will arrive in the sunshine state. Getting an Airbnb in advance would be the cheapest option and if you get it somewhere outside of Fort Lauderdale, you can create a nice little spot to relax before going into the city for all the craziness. So you can keep track of your Venmos, we recommend keeping a list on your notes app or using Split Wise to relieve stress on sharing expenses with a group.
Planning out how much you want to spend in advance is also important so you don’t drop all your money in one night. The helpful thing about getting an Airbnb is that you have the ability to buy your own groceries, which is a lot cheaper than going out to fancy meals every single night.
Definitely DO NOT lose track of your phone. If you plan on enjoying yourself (as most people do during the break), then chances are you will not be paying attention to your phone every second. Always keep it charged, share locations with important people and if it is in a purse, then make sure your purse is tightly at your arm.
If you plan on going somewhere outside of the states, there are a ton of hotels that are all-inclusive that have special discounts for college students. It takes some time to search around, but is definitely worth it for endless amounts of food and drinks! If you want to do spring break on a budget, definitely look into Hyatt Student Discounts, Resorts with Student Discounts and Marriott Hotels for a bunch of different options for where to stay if you're feeling tropical.
Also, let's not forget about the option of going home! We all need a mental break sometimes and to just be surrounded by our families, and there is no harm in some home cooked meals and housing already provided. There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed, waking up to the familiar scent of your house and being with your family.
There are a ton of other options for spring break. Lucky for us, being in North Carolina is the perfect location for driving to other cities such as Nashville, Savannah, or even staying in the same state by driving a few hours to Asheville! No matter where you go, make sure to take time for yourself and use this break time as a mental reset. This has been a long semester; only 22 more days until you can relax!
