Vermont is Underrated
If you're from the East Coast, Vermont is most likely where you go to ski in the winter. There's nothing better than meeting up with friends and family, testing your ski legs, and enjoying a waffle covered in chocolate by the fire. There's also great snowmobiling, tubing and après-ski atmospheres that draw the attention of visitors. But, there is so much more to Vermont than just its winter appeal.
Your favorite ski mountains in Vermont double as hiking trails, adventure parks and more during the summer months. It is incredibly common to hike up ski mountains, such as Bromley, Okemo, Stowe and Stratton. While a difficult hike, the views are beautiful and the accomplishment is incredibly rewarding.
Some mountains, like Bromley Mountain, have adventure parks during the summer to keep the fun going. Located in Peru Vermont, Bromley Mountain is home to an adventure park with a water slide, mini golf, trampolines, a giant swing, alpine slides and even an aerial ropes course.
You can spend an entire day at the mountain enjoying the sun and time outdoors. It is perfect for all ages, but it does get crowded!
Okemo Mountain has the Timber Ripper, a roller coaster where you control your own speed. Sitting in a sled-like car, you can enjoy a leisurely or fast ride through the Alpine forest. Since many people visit Okemo for hikes, it is a great way to end the day and a satisfying reward after all the hiking.
A great way to cool off after all this time outdoors and in the sun is by visiting a quarry. Dorset Quarry is a beautiful marble quarry where people can enjoy jumping from high (or low) heights into refreshing, clean water. It’s only $15 for parking, and the swimming is free! If the thrill of cliff jumping isn’t for you, there are ladders to lower yourself into the water. If you are a thrill seeker, you can jump from heights of 10 feet to 35! Spending an afternoon at the quarry is a great way to cool off in the heat of the summer.
Vermont is the perfect weekend or even week getaway to spend some time in nature. There is truly nothing better!
