How to Become THAT Girl
When you think of the clean girl aesthetic, what comes to mind? Dewy skin? Slicked-back hair? Glossy lips? The clean girl aesthetic has taken the internet by storm and has proven to be more than just a beauty trend. We at The Edge have a couple tips and tricks for you to incorporate it into your everyday routine.
MENTAL HEALTH
Positive thoughts. Deep breaths. Looking at the glass half-full, realizing that your biggest enemy will be yourself and, in return, being nicer to yourself. Breaking through the toxic mental barriers that social media’s expectations have created and starting to do things that you like to do, when you want and how often you want will help you become healthier mentally.
CLEAN-EATING
Balance. Eating fruits and vegetables, drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, having equal portions but also listening to your body and honoring your body’s cravings. The “clean” in clean-eating can be seen two ways: clean in the sense of a healthy item, but also clean as in the mindset that follows. Developing a positive relationship with food will help you reach your goals easier and fuel you up for anything.
decluttering social media
Learning that your social media is for you is one of the most freeing feelings. Starting to realize that you have the power over who can and can’t follow you and removing or cleaning up your feed/following can be the first step. Start using your social media as something you want it to be, not what you think others want to see. In the word’s of Taylor Swift herself, “Dear Reader, the greatest of luxuries is your secrets” (“Dear Reader”). In other words, you can post how much you want, whenever, and not have to worry because it’s yours.
skincare
Skincare can be face masks, eye patches, lip scrubs, serums, moisturizer and anything and everything else. Getting into a good routine can help elevate your confidence and overall mood. However, we at The Edge like to focus on reality, and the reality is that acne is real. Acne is not anything to be ashamed or embarrassed of; it’s something to accept as a basic human trait. Acne is normal!
sleep
Getting sleep is crucial. Sleep is the time when your body fully shuts off and works on getting you recharged for another amazing day. Most people recommend around eight to 10 hours of sleep, but then again, most people have busy schedules and, well, lives. Try to aim for at least eight hours, and if not, a quick nap here and there doesn’t hurt!
reading and journaling
Reading and journaling are great ways to get in touch with your creative juices. Reading allows you to escape to wherever you want to go, and there are so many options out there! Journaling allows you to connect with yourself on a deeper level, letting yourself speak without judgment or consequence, for an audience of only one: you.
It’s important to prioritize yourself and your wellbeing. When you focus on yourself, good will follow.
