It’s a J.Crew Comeback

We love a good game of redemption, and if you haven’t already heard, J.Crew is winning this round.

Meet the Woman Herself

Olympia Gayot, the 41-year-old Vice President of women’s design and Creative Director of J.Crew, has emerged as one of the most influential names in the world of fashion and a savior for the brand after severe financial turmoil.

Gayot graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Fine Arts in 2003. She first joined the J.Crew family in 2010, serving as the Design Director for seven years until 2017.  During her brief intermission from J.Crew, she assumed the role of VP of Design for Victoria’s Secret until late 2020.

In September of 2020, former Creative Director Jenna Lyons stepped down from her position to focus on her own brand, LoveSeen. After some thought, Gayot made the decision to return to J.Crew and take the reins as the company’s leader and beacon of hope amidst a pile of debt and bankruptcy.

She is effortlessly chic, always bringing a modern approach to a classic ensemble. From bold stripes to a bright pop of color, she is not one to play it safe — even at the office.

Now profitable, J.Crew is enjoying a substantial surge in sales, with their styles swiftly selling out and gaining significant traction all over social media. She has brought a new life to J.Crew, and she’s just getting started.

J.Crew Reimagined

In their latest campaign, the city meets the country with an array of timeless pieces that are quintessential for fall. J.Crew is our go-to for all things layering, offering an endless selection of chic blazers, trenches, coats and cashmere to last you for years to come.

Their 40th anniversary collection features everything, and we’re not exaggerating. From the perfect suede tote and croc-embossed loafers, to the comfiest cable knits around, J.Crew has you covered for this season — and forever. Check out the entire Fall 2023 lookbook here

Our Top Picks for Fall

Love it all but don’t know where to start? We’ve got you covered. We love a good collaboration, so it's no surprise that we absolutely adore this Barbour x J.Crew Catton waxed jacket, the perfect transition piece for when the temperature begins to drop. Ballet flats are the must-have shoe of the season, and the Zoe ballet flats in this gorgeous baby pink need to be in your cart ASAP. We’re also obsessing over low rise this season, and these limited-edition Point Sur puddle jeans are the answer to all of our prayers — the perfect pants to throw on with a little cardigan or button-down.

For a simple and chic staple to add to your closet, this Giselle V-neck is an absolute must. No one does the sweater blazer quite like J. Crew, and with so many options, it's hard to choose just one. The only thing that makes more of a statement than feathers is fuschia, so why not combine them to create the most eclectic bag for a girls’ night out?  The Collection Santorini bag is the best standout accessory for a fun little flair to any outfit. There is no stopping the slip this season, and this Gwyneth slip skirt is going to be your most reliable piece. Dress it up with your favorite pair of kitten heels, or with a sneaker for a more laid back look, and you’ll be ready to hit the town.

Olympia Gayot, you have outdone yourself. Thank you for putting J.Crew back onto our radar and onto our must-have list for the chicest closet this fall. We hope you love their collection as much as we do. Tag us @theedgemag with your favorite J.Crew finds. Happy shopping!
