The 29 year old Emmy-winning actress, comedian, television writer and Irish queen has been changing the game.

From her humble beginnings in the suburbs of Boston to her breakout role as Sydney Adamu in FX’s The Bear, Ayo is paving the way for women, the LGBTQ+ community and black actresses.

Why Ireland?

A long running joke started during an interview with Letterboxd in March 2023. She joked that she played the role of a donkey in The Banshees of Inisherin, throwing on an accent and saying, 

“I lived in Ireland for about four months and I got really in character,” Edebiri said, joking in her take on an Irish accent. “I was on all fours for four months and it was really painful, but beautiful as well.”

She’s carried this joke on furing many of her acceptance speeches, shouting out Dublin, Cork, Derry, and Killarney.

Referencing ireland as her home country on TikTok, there’s many natives who would bestow upon her the honorary title.
