So what are the Sunday scaries? Sunday scaries are an overwhelming anxiety about the week to come and sometimes the weekend to precede it. Is there a big test on Wednesday? Did you make some questionable choices on Friday night? Feeling a bit anxious? You might have Sunday scaries, but that’s okay! We at The Edge know that sometimes Sundays can be rough, so we want to share some tips to help you unwind and reset!
Oftentimes our space can be a reflection of how we are feeling. Creating a calming environment for yourself can keep you level-headed. So throw in a load of laundry, take out your overflowing trash can and make your bed! We know it won’t be fun, but it will make you feel so much better. You can also make your space cozy by grabbing your favorite candles and dimming the lights - because those fluorescent bulbs are not it.
Now that your room is cozy, you should get cozy too! An everything shower can do wonders! Check out one of our other recent articles titled “The Ultimate Everything Shower” for tips on taking the best everything shower of your life! Skincare is important too, adding a few extra steps to your routine can help you relax. We suggest a cooling face mask! Finally, change into your favorite lounge set or pajamas and settle in.
Now let’s fix your mindset! Try some simple mediation techniques, like square breathing, which is a perfect way to ground yourself. Begin by inhaling for five counts, hold for five counts, breathe out for five counts, hold for five counts and repeat. Journaling can also be a great stress reliever. Try writing down three people, three experiences and three qualities about yourself you are grateful for. Hopefully, this will help remind you of how amazing you are!
It is important to take care of your whole self. Mentally, physically and emotionally. This can be hard when you are feeling overwhelmed, especially with a busy college schedule. Resetting your space, mind and body can help you start your week off right….. and help you forget about some mistakes from the weekend. We hope that these tips can help you relax and take care of yourself!
