Phoenix Fever: Fan Fashion
By: Susan Derasmo Welcome back to school, Elon! It’s time to get on your school spirit and cheer on the maroon and gold, whether it’s in athletic gear or in a t-shirt dress—there’s no such thing as too much school spirit. Sports have just begun, so it’s time to break out your Phoenix fashion!
All around campus you can find the new Elon ‘20 baseball caps featuring Elon’s new logo that was unveiled last spring. From athletic shorts to tank tops to baseball hats, someone is always sporting this new logo. This can’t be where our school spirit stops, can it?
Meet the Phoenix Phanatics--an organization of students fueled by Phoenix fever. They are aiming to make Elon the most spirited student section in the CAA. Just ask Phoenix Phanatics president, Tyson Glover, a senior Strategic Communications and Entrepreneurship major.
The Phoenix Phanatics are no strangers to Elon’s campus, as they’ve been a student organization since 2003. As Tyson explained to me, “There have been varying levels of engagement over the years.” The goal for this year is to make it a norm on campus so that Phoenix Phanatics doesn’t end when the Class of 2017 graduates this spring. Continuous growth of school spirit is what Tyson and the Phanatics aim for. An interest meeting for the Phanatics is yet to be announced, but freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to attend. Tyson told me that at Org Fair on September 9, many freshmen came up to him telling him that they had been the leaders of their student sections back home. Phoenix Phanatics is one of the clubs that allows for underclassmen to be leaders. For more information regarding Phoenix Phanatics, check them out on PhoenixConnect.
