Newest Winter Skin Trend: Yoga Skin

Something that can we can all agree on is that during the Winter, no one wants dry skin. One of the newest trends coined by professional, UK makeup artist Sara Hill is “Yoga Skin.” The trend is basically a fool proof way to ensure that the skin is hydrated and dewy at all times.

The Yoga Skin technique involves applying a mixture of oils, primers, liquid highlighter, and cream products to the skin. It is an eight step process that perfectly imitates the natural glow that Summer gives on an elevated level. The step by step instructions can be found on Sara’s instagram @SaraHillMakeup.

Now something to keep in mind, as with every makeup trend, is that this may not with every skin tone. It is clear that we are all different and what works for your best friend may not work for you or make you feel the most confident. For someone like me with an oily to combination skin tone this trend is a little frightening. I am someone who sticks to matte foundations to combat the natural oils that tend to spread across my T-zone. This trend essentially says to throw that out the window by combining oils and highlighter drops in with your everyday foundation. So for other people who may be a bit nervous about diving head first into this trend, I thought I would give my top glowy products to keep your skin looking fresh all winter long.

Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil

A makeup step that many skip is night time hydration. Sometimes during the colder months just cleanse and moisturize the skin is not enough. Adding an essential oil into your nightly routine a few times a week will make your skin feel hydrated by morning time. If you want an even more dewy look you can add a small droplet into your everyday foundation.

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer

If your skin is in need of moisture, this is the primer to use. When going for glowing skin, the preparation is just as important as the makeup products you use. When looking for primers to hydrate the skin, make sure they don’t include silicone!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powers

These are some of the most beautiful highlighters I have ever tried. They glide on and are easily buildable for whatever type of glow you are going for that day. Highlight the high points of your cheeks, the tip of your nose, your Cupid’s bow, and the top of your T-zone to create a natural glow on your face.

MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix+

Mac Fix+ has always been the first and last step of my makeup routine. I first spray it on and then blend it into my skin using a damp beauty blender. I love this product because it dries down, but still gives your makeup a flawless skin like finish.
