90s Grunge How-To

Let’s be honest... we miss the 90s. But lucky for us, fashion tends to repeat itself. Our obsession for this decade is no surprise, especially when it comes to fall.

With brands such as Calvin Klein and Doc Marten, we have seen pieces of this infamous fashion era become resurrected on our Instagram accounts.

The main point of mastering the 90s grunge moment is expressing your inner angst. This movement entered mainstream fashion in 1992. As bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam rose to popularity, so did the darkness of the fashion world.

Although we may not know every song by Metallica, we can’t complain about how artists such as they have changed fashion. This music established some of the most emotionally relevant and relatable content which inspired iconic pieces.

Expression during this time period reigned over everything. So, when we started seeing more and more of the grunge look, we weren’t surprised. With new emotions and tensions that accompany each school semester, we’re constantly searching for ways to express frustration through fashion.

Nostalgia dominates this resurgence of style as chokers and band tees are return. We love to see people wearing Rolling Stones concert tees while accessorizing with oversized flannels. Dark colors rule this era so be sure to copy the trend by pairing some black Levi’s with a vintage top.

We also see chunky platform sneakers and combat boots like Doc Martens beginning to take over, so try incorporating these nostalgic shoes into your next outfit. Be sure to look at the internet’s current fascination with e-girls, as they tend to take this style concept to the next level. Think checkered long sleeves underneath baggy black shirts combined with belt chains and dark-colored beanies.
