Your Guide to Blue Light
As college students, we spend a lot of time staring at our screens. Whether it’s our laptops, TVs, or cell phones, we are constantly exposing ourselves to blue light.
Excessive exposure to blue light can have a lot of negative effects on our eyes. It can cause headaches and eye strain and you may feel as though you spend a little too much time staring at a computer trying to finish your paper that’s due at midnight.
But what actually is blue light? Blue light is the answer to the age-old question: Why is the sky blue? We are constantly exposed to blue light every time we go outside, which is one of the reasons why we wear sunglasses.
Our screens also emit a significant amount of blue light, except we don’t have sunglasses to filter out the harmful rays and protect our eyes when we’re indoors. Overtime, this exposure can be very damaging and negatively impact our vision. It can also interfere with your sleeping patterns if you’re someone who uses electronics right before bed or first thing in the morning.
Well the good news is there’s an easy fix to this problem, and it’s becoming more and more popular. Blue light glasses have been on the rise for the past few years, and you’ve probably seen students wearing them around campus.
You can add blue light filters to lenses if you already have a prescription for glasses, and if you’re blessed with perfect vision but have always wanted to rock glasses, this is your chance.
There are some really cute styles of blue light glasses on Amazon for as little as $15. Here are some links to get you started!
