Buzz Buzz, There’s a New App in Town
The days of being a single Pringle are over because Bumble has made its way to Elon!
Bumble is an app where you can find a significant other or friends who have the same interests as you. Active in 150 countries, their goal is global domination. Well, at least when it comes to dating.
Founded by Whitney Herd after she wanted a dating app where women could be in charge, the app’s idea is that when you match with someone, in a heterosexual match, the woman has to message first, which is something a little unheard of in this day and age.
Herd said in an interview with The Conversation, “Bee society, where there’s a queen bee, the woman is in charge, and it’s a really respectful community. It’s all about the queen bee and everyone working together. It was very serendipitous.”
Bumble also encourages strong opening lines that are not as surface level as stereotypical openers. So, instead of saying, “What’s up,” they give you options like, “What is your favorite place you have ever been?” or “What little thing made you happy today?.”
You may see signs around campus or people handing out some Bumble gear trying to get you to download the app. If having the app alone is not enough, Elon has a few Bumble representatives that are spreading the word about the new wave of dating apps. Many people are on the fence about online dating because it has only gained popularity in the past few years, but Bumble makes it as easy as possible and requires very low commitment— if you do not want to talk, then there is no need! Just swipe!
Some people compare Bumble and Tinder, but there is simply no comparison people! Bumble attracts more serious individuals who are usually more invested in a relationship, and the users are usually a bit more professional and serious. So if you’re looking to avoid games and immaturity when it comes to finding a potential partner, take a chance on Bumble… you probably won’t regret it!
