Activities For After Your Very Long Three Hour Class

As the days continue to get shorter, all we seem to want to do is sit in our pajamas, order takeout and watch Netflix. But sometimes endless reruns of Gilmore Girls can get a little boring. Broaden your horizons and try something new this year with our first edition of five fun things! Boredom be gone!

Podcast & Penmanship

There are currently over 300,000 podcasts to choose from. There are podcasts for those true-crime junkies, new moms and everyone in between. Podcasts connect us in a way that we have never been before. Listening and reflecting on other people’s conversations broaden our horizons and make us feel closer to one another. But why not take this one step further? Instead of coloring, try to improve your own penmanship. Calligraphy is a beautiful skill for birthday cards, quotes and celebrating the small things! Platforms like Pinterest and YouTube provide templates and learning videos to help you begin your calligraphy journey. There are also calligraphy practice books if you find out you have a special passion for the subject. These two things together are both a great exercise for your mind and body.

Go For a Walk

Remember the days of recess, when you walked and talked with your friends? Well, this activity is just as fun as it was back then! Walking is a great way to get in your exercise, breathe the fresh outdoors and explore our beautiful campus. Walking boosts your endorphins and makes a great time to catch up with friends. You could even join our own Dr. Book for her morning walk at 7am, although here at The Edge we might not wake up that early all the time ;). Time a day, grab a couple friends and walk your boredom away.

Plan Out Your Weekend

Sometimes all you need is that light at the end of the tunnel. There is nothing like a good weekend to lift your spirits, so why not try to envision it now? Want to plan a one-day getaway? There are plenty up-and-coming cities like Greensboro, Asheville and Raleigh to explore, and even closer ones like Graham, Mebane and Burlington. Coffee shops and Instagrammable city spots are all in your future. If thats not up your alley, try a weekend adventure with our own Elon Outdoors, or volunteer with Elon Volunteers!
