5 More Pieces of Good News
We have been in quarantine for over 6 weeks now. We don’t know about you, but we’ve spent a lot of our time binge-watching our favorite shows, baking lots of bread and going for long walks to stay sane. This has been an unprecedented time in our lives where even glancing at our Twitter feeds or watching a few minutes of the morning news can create stress in our already anxious lives. We here at The Edge recognize that, so we want to share with you some good news.
1. The cast of Parks & Recreation teamed up with State Farm and Subaru of America for a special episode of the beloved NBC comedy. This special has raised over $2 million so far for Feeding America. All of our favorite characters, from Leslie Knope to Andy Dwyer, made an appearance.
2. Superstar Taylor Swift sent a fan, a nurse working in New York City on the frontlines of the pandemic, a handwritten letter and care package full of Lover merchandise. Swift has also contributed to COVID-19 efforts by paying the salaries and healthcare of a local Nashville record store.
3. For all of you Twilight fans out there, you’re in luck! Stephanie Meyer announced on Monday’s Good Morning America that she is releasing a new book in the series in early August. Midnight Sun tells Edward Cullen’s background story. Does this mean we will be able to see Robert Pattinson reprise his breakout role again?
4. Two African Lion cubs were born at the Denver Zoo on April 23rd. The babies are being kept in an environment that matches what it would have been like in the wild. According to the Denver Zoo’s website, this birth is really great for the species. Check out their social media channels for adorable photos and videos!
5. Spring is blossoming all over the country. While this isn’t necessarily news, it is definitely refreshing to see blue skies, feel the warmth of sunshine and smell the Lilacs in bloom. In this newfound season of uncertainty, the changing of the seasons feels incredibly familiar. It is calming in the sense that no matter what happens in our world, the sun will always come out to shine.
