Your Guide to Packing for a Weekend in Nashville
With COVID still making things slightly complicated to travel internationally, now is the perfect time to plan trips to places you’ve always wanted to go in the U.S.. On top of our list, was Nashville, TN (for obvious reasons). Nashville is a hotspot for bars, shopping, and cowboys of course. If you’re a student at Elon, Nashville is just a short flight or a road trip away and it’s a chance to really experience The South in a different light. While your itinerary might not look exactly the same as ours, we’re here to help you prepare for an upcoming trip with outfits for absolutely every occasion.
Spending the day shopping
While cowboy boots are usually a must in Nashville, if you’re spending the day walking around, make sure you have something comfortable on your feet. There is a lot of distance to cover and you don’t want your feet hurting for the rest of the trip. But, if your cowboy boots are comfortable, pair them with something simple like denim shorts or a romper, something you’ll be able to change out of easily if you need to try things on in shops! Another must have for walking around in the day is a bag of some sort. We recommend one with a zipper and/or a crossbody bag, one place to store your cards, cash, phone etc.
Bar hopping on Broadway at Night
It’s important to remember Nashville is a pretty laid back city when it comes to fashion. In other words, we wouldn’t wear the same outfit out in NYC that we would in Nashville. We recommend keeping it simple but chic. If you choose to wear leather or a lace bodysuit, try pairing it with cowboy boots instead of booties or heels to keep it casual.
Honky Tonk Bus Tour During the Day
Get out your cowboy boots and hats! If there is ever a reason to go full country, it’s a honky tonk bus ride. You can expect country music to be blaring as you and your friends cruise down Broadway waving to passerby’s. This is truly a must-do experience and if you’re gonna do it, you better do it right! We recommend getting your boots and hats right in Nashville as they have the best selection with the best prices for authentic pieces. A simple, flowy dress is perfect for the honky tonk and goes great with boots and is easy to dance in!
Brunch with the girls
Brunch always calls for something chic. Brunch places in Nashville are so cute and perfect for pictures, so be sure to wear something that photographs well! Something girly and fun would be perfect for brunch.
Airport/Road trip
Comfort is a must for any traveling day, whether you’re traveling by car or plane. If you’re packing chunky shoes (cowboy boots perhaps…) we recommend planning your travel outfit around them so you don’t have to worry about packing them and taking up room in your bag. Pair boots with leggings and a sweatshirt, because you’ll likely need these things to lounge around while in Nashville anyway, and throw on your hat for the trip too!
