What's in Your Closet? Halloween Edition

Spooky season is upon us, and we at The Edge are certainly ready for endless candy, costume changes, and pumpkins surrounding us all. One of the most enjoyable parts of this upcoming holiday is figuring out who you want to be for a night. Halloween is the one day of celebration where you can transform into your favorite celebrity, animal, or even place, and waltz around town in your new identity. While thinking of a costume is certainly easy, finding all of the necessary accessories can be difficult, time-consuming, and expensive. 


You certainly may be thinking, “how in the world am I going to find a costume for multiple days,” or even “how am I going to find the right costume for me?” Well, look no further than across your room and into your closet, because we can guarantee, you have hundreds of costumes sitting waiting to be utilized. Here are five recommendations for costumes and what clothes you will need that you most likely already own.

1. Hippie Chick/60s-70s Era

  • Bell bottom jeans or flower leggings

  • Colorful or plain bralette

  • Headband or flower crown

  • Circle sunglasses

  • Chunky bracelets and necklaces

  • Hoop earrings

  • Absolutely anything with fringe

  • Use eyeliner or eyeshadow to draw peace signs face paint

2. Sports Fan

  • Sports jersey (any sport will do)

  • Spandex

  • High top sneakers or sports shoes

  • Black face paint for face lines

  • Scrunchie

  • High knee socks

  • Booties or go-go shoes


3. Biker Chick

  • Leather jacket or jean jacket

  • Black jean shorts, leather shorts, or leather skirt

  • T-shirt tied around the leg

  • Checkered top or white top

  • Graphic t-shirt (preferably red or black)

  • Boxy Sunglasses

  • Boots

4. Cowboy/Cowgirl

  • Jean skirt

  • Cowboy boots or chunky boots

  • Neon top to cow print top

  • Bandana

  • Leather or jean jacket

  • Cowboy hat (at least one person on campus you know has one)

And for a comedic option…

5. Adam Sandler

  • Any oversized graphic t-shirt on you

  • Baggy men’s basketball shorts

  • Jogging sneakers

  • Mustache

  • Biking sunglasses
